A recent article by Nicholas De Kouchkovsky titled Speech Renaissance or Disruption outlined the history of speech technology as well as how AI and machine learning has transformed speech recognition. He mentioned that with all the recent updates in technology this could be the renaissance or disruption of speech recognition.

Nicholas claims that although companies like Microsoft, IBM and Google have reached a 5.1% word error rate of humans, he still doesn’t think recognition seems that great when talking to a customer service machine.

Companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, IBM and Microsoft have invested heavily in speech recognition technology for products like Siri, Amazon Echo, etc. Read the full article to see what we can expect in the customer service speech recognition renaissance.
